Topic: Who's In Your Boat
Scripture: Proverbs 13:20

The Psalmist writes in 119:11, “ I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against God.” Later on in that same Psalm, it echoes that thought by saying the word of the Lord is a light that illuminates the path before us. Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” If we want to be ready for whatever life brings our way, effective in the mission we’ve been given, and dangerous against the enemy we need to memorize and meditate on the word of God. This isn’t homework or mindless school memorization. This needs to be a passionate and spirited process of tattooing God’s word in our hearts and placing his truth on banners in our minds.
In the New Testament, believers were told not to worry about having the right words when they were dragged before public officials or asked to testify regarding Jesus. The more enthusiastic we can be about cherishing God’s Word, the better prepared we can be to testify whenever we are given an opportunity.
