Week 5 | Heart of a Servant: Jesus Part 2 | Matt Robinson
Monday May 26, 2025
Monday May 26, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: John 13:1-17
•
Earlier in the series we talked about how Jesus served because his heaven Father instructed him too. The Gospels make it abundantly clear that this was not a small part of his purpose, but a core part of Jesus’ nature. He came not to be served, but to serve. He came to give his life for the people he was serving. In his final moments with his disciples he made the full extent of his love apparent by serving them once again. He washes their feet and tells them to serve others in the same way.

Week 4 | Heart of a Servant: Esther | Matt Robinson
Monday May 19, 2025
Monday May 19, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: The Book of Esther
•
The book of Esther is an excellent case study in the motivations for serving. The three main characters of Esther all serve in different ways but with different motivations. Mordecai serves the King and saves his life because it is the right thing to do even if he doesn’t get credit. Haman on the other hand serves only to make himself look good and does even that at the expense of others. Finally, Esther has very little control over her life and situation, but still chooses to serve God for the sake of her people. When your moment arrives, how will you serve?

Week 3 | Heart of a Servant: Deborah | Matt Robinson

Scripture: Judges 4-5

Sometimes God calls us to serve in a bold way. We might take a look around and not like our chances of success. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t serve, it means we should lean all the more on the strength God has given us. Are we willing to boldly trust that God goes before us when we obey him? In a culture when men were often the ones in power, God used the boldness of two separate women to deliver the Israelites. Serve God boldly and he promises to go before you.

Week 2 | Heart of a Servant: Noah | Matt Robinson
Monday May 05, 2025
Monday May 05, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: Genesis 6-7
•
If you want to be a great servant, it isn’t a one and done sort of thing. Faithfulness is a key attribute of any of God’s Servants. Community Service projects are great, but committed servants are just getting started when most everyone else is punching their time card and going home. The Bible says that Noah faithfully walked with God in a time when the rest of the world could care less. He didn’t just do what was right, he built an ark under God’s direction day after day, year after year even if nobody else paid attention. Can we serve faithfully like Noah?

Week 1 | Heart of a Servant: Created to Serve the Lord | Randy Shivers
Monday Apr 28, 2025
Monday Apr 28, 2025
Speaker: Randy Shivers
Scripture: Ephesians 2:8
•
All over Scripture, we are told to ‘serve the Lord.’ In Psalm 100:2, it says to ‘serve the Lord with gladness.’ Deuteronomy 10:12 says, ‘Serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.’ Joshua says, ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord’ (Joshua 24:15). And Paul in Romans 12:11 also tells us to ‘serve the Lord.’ In Mark 10:45, Jesus says, ‘The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.’ Christians throw around the phrase ‘serve the Lord’ but what does that phrase mean and why is it important as a follower of Christ? We don’t get right with God because we serve, we serve because Jesus saved us and made us right with God.

Week 5 Easter | Jesus: Swallowed Up In Victory | Matt Robinson
Tuesday Apr 22, 2025
Tuesday Apr 22, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: John 21//Luke 24
•
It’s true that Jesus’ disciples were not expecting him to die or even to die on a cross. It is especially true that they weren’t expecting him to come back to life. Everyone who had fought with death had lost. All of humanity ended up swallowed in the grave, never to return. Jesus broke the jaws of death and emerged victorious. His triumph over death brought us a victory over sin and death as well.

Week 4 |Jesus: The Sign of Jonah | Matt Robinson
Monday Apr 14, 2025
Monday Apr 14, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: Luke 11:28-32
•
One of the reasons that Jonah didn’t want to go share God’s message with the Ninevites was because he didn’t like them. They were sinful, they were scary, and the list could go on. God still had a message for them. God still wanted them to obey him. It’s interesting that in Jesus’ ministry he actually references the story of Jonah and the Ninevites. He tells a crowd that is showing up looking for miracles that the only sign they’ll get is the sign of Jonah. He goes even further and tells them that the Ninevites will stand up at Judgement and condemn this generation. What is he saying? He’s challenging them to not miss God’s message and call on their lives. Don’t wait for a sign. Respond to Jesus’ words in your life right away.

Week 3 |Jesus: Walking on the Water | Matt Robinson
Monday Apr 07, 2025
Monday Apr 07, 2025
Speaker: Matt Robinson
Scripture: Matthew 14:22-36
•
Yet again the disciples find themselves out on the open sea. Deep into the night they think they see a ghost walking towards them on the water, but its actually Jesus. He tells them to have courage even though what they are witnessing defies anything they believe to be possible. We can believe Jesus at his word, follow him at his command, and trust that he knows what he is talking about.
